We want to be fully transparent with our community about what happened to our old website, how it was handled, and what we have done to ensure it never happens again.
Our previous website was targeted in a cyberattack. The attackers attempted to penetrate the system, but the firewall configured by our technology partner, ECONET ORG, held firm. Every intrusion attempt was blocked at the perimeter. Not a single record was accessed. Not a single piece of data left our system. Your data was never at risk.
A thorough post-incident review confirmed that the attackers did not cross the security perimeter at any stage. There was no data breach, no data leak, and zero impact on our users or community.
Even though the attack was fully repelled, we — together with the ECONET ORG team — made a decision to go further. The attack was a reminder that digital threats are real and evolving. Rather than simply moving on, we chose to treat it as an opportunity to raise our standards.
ECONET ORG, who originally built our old portal, took the initiative to completely rebuild the platform from scratch. They applied modern security architecture, secure coding practices, and a security-first approach at every layer of the new system. They then conducted a full web application security audit — covering authentication, injection vulnerabilities, cross-site scripting, route protection, and OWASP Top 10 compliance — before the portal was made live.
The new portal is now live. It is independently audited, hardened, and built to serve our community securely for years to come.
