Budgam, May 15: Save Youth Save Future Foundation organized an awareness programme titled “Mulaqat” ( Samkun te Bedaar Gasun) at Government Sheikh-ul-Alam Memorial Degree College, Budgam, focusing on drug addiction awareness and youth engagement under the ongoing anti-drug campaign aimed at promoting the vision of a Drug-Free Kashmir.
The programme witnessed active participation from students, faculty members, and members of civil society, who discussed the growing threat of substance abuse among youth and the importance of collective efforts in addressing the issue.
The event was graced by Chief Guest Ms. Anika Nazir, Women’s Wing President of Save Youth Save Future Foundation. Guest of Honour Dr. Amin Malik, Principal of the College, and Mr. Sajjad Ahmad, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Budgam, were also present on the occasion. Renowned Kashmiri artist and actor Mr. Nazir Josh and other dignitaries attended the programme.
Addressing the gathering, the speakers emphasized the importance of awareness, counseling, rehabilitation, and positive youth engagement in combating drug abuse and safeguarding society.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Amin Malik highlighted the serious social and psychological consequences of drug addiction and reiterated the institution’s commitment towards creating a healthy and aware educational environment for students.
During the programme, Mr. Nazir Josh presented a thought-provoking poetic performance reflecting the harsh realities and devastating impact of substance abuse on society.
Chief Guest Ms. Anika Nazir shared valuable insights on the psychological dimensions of substance abuse and stressed the need to channelize the energy of youth towards constructive and productive activities. She also emphasized the importance of empathy, guidance, counseling, and rehabilitation for affected individuals.
